In Lauren’s own words:
“I have loved nature and the great outdoors all my life. I was never a typical “girly-girl”, and my Mom actually thought it was a JOKE when I gave her my application for Miss Vermont USA 2010 with her Mother’s Day present. She had always dressed me up adorably as a little girl… all ribbons, bows, sparkles, and pink. As soon as I could, I traded in the cute little outfits for smelly horse farm clothes and hiking boots. When she realized that I was serious about entering the pageant, she was ecstatic. But we had a lot of work to do.”
